The Kingdom of Avon calls Blushed Meadows its home - a place to set down roots and continue a legacy that transcends worlds and time. It is the rekindled heart of an ancient civilization once thought extinct and the foundation of no more than fairy tales - but within Mythris, the beliefs and practices have been revived in the flesh-and-blood descendants of ancient Avon and those they hold dear.More found-family unit than oligarchy, Avon is a group of like-minded individuals amassed from blood and covenant alike who foster an appreciation of nature and the supernatural deities who support it. Fae and Gaelic gods are revered for their status and power - both are something equally loved and to be feared, though the wolves of Avon prefer to surpass the fear and embrace a goodwill toward nature in respect of the powers that be.


Most of the rites and activities woven into Avon find source material from Morrighan's Hand, a coven from the same universe that the Goldencourtes hail from. As a part of their practices, Avon welcomes all who are in need of shelter or assistance; no one is turned away lest they promise trouble, and there is no expectation for compensation. Through empathy and an impassioned desire to leave the world better than they found it, the members of Avon are a port in the storm for those who find themselves battered by the waves of discourse. As such, violence should be utilized only as a last resort and the members of the group are largely, if not totally, well-meaning individuals.The pack practices regular festivals, namely for solstices, and it is encouraged to frequently leave offerings to the various deities and fae who are believed to bless their group.

History & Now

in a language so old that even the earth no longer remembers


before mythris

A world ago, fae took on many forms but were seldom seen by man. They were long thought to have gone extinct, if they had ever existed to begin with, due to the lack of presence they held. It was not always this way, however, as they had once milled about mortalkind, particularly in the now-dead civilization of Avon. As fae protected nature, they were sometimes hunted by man for their prowess or the land they defended.Avon served as an easement between fae and man, a place where both could freely receive the other without threat of harm. It was through this kingdom that the haphazard kinship between the two parties would begin to mend, both creating concessions for the other through the careful art of negotiation and good-faith practices.For many years, Avon thrived as a sort utopia, but its success was the bedrock of jealousy for an opposing nation. Avon would eventually fall to Cathair na Déithe (Déithe) and, in its dying breath, all memory of it would fade. Déithe erased the kingdom from all records, cleaving every ounce of magic from its bones and leaving its shell to crumble as ruins far beneath the ground where no one would ever find it.What stories remained of Avon were spun as folktales, the sort of stories told to children at bedtime. There are few who know the truth of Avon, and they now inhabit Mythris.

The rightful heirs of Avon have arrived in Myhris - the Goldencourtes. Though fae blood ran in their veins in the world before, they are but mortal wolves now.They bring with them their hopes to revitalize and perpetuate the community and beliefs that were woven into their previous lives.Avon originally found its way into Mythris by the group Avon Odyssey in Golden Glade, but strife would send them across Mythris to Blushed Meadows. It is here that the group would settle and begin to build their home anew. Though its ranks underwent changes, new life was breathed into the group in the winter of Year Two after the group's matriarch Fable discovered more of her family had wound up within Mythris.Now, Avon serves as a sanctuary for those in need and outliers, those who seek a place without judgement. The group would officially be founded on [Date] with [names] serving as founders.

Samhain

 New Years  • October 31The beginning of the year for those in Avon, and arguably the most sacred of days. The festivities begin as the sun sets and do not end until first light. It is thought this day allows spirits to linger among the living, giving survivors an opportunity to "speak" with their lost loved ones. Diviners and Clerics bless the festival grounds ahead of the celebration. Feasts and consumption of fermented fruit, substances take place during this day. Attendees are expected to spruce themselves up in some way - flowers, vines, bones, and other decorations are encouraged. Altars will be created to honor The Morrigan and those who are deceased. Individuals may begin their own, too. It is common to leave baubles, food, and other things the deceased or The Morrigan may like at the altars, as it is thought the spirits can pull them into their world due to the weakened veil. Dancing and revelry are common activities. Those who are born (or conceived) on this day are thought to possess great powers. Dandelions can be blown to honor the dead. The festival ends at first light with a group song.


Yule

 Winter Solstice  • December 21The darkest day of the year and a more somber occasion, Yule is a less "organized" festival for the group and is a day of reflection. There are no group celebrations on this day and all may honor the day as they please. Exchanging gifts and stories are favorite pastimes for this day Inviting family members and friends for dinner are often extended Reflecting on the past seasons and preparing for the coming spring If, for whatever reason, fire is present, burning pine branches is thought to have a cleansing effect for the spirit.

 Spring Solstice  • March 20Celebration of spring and thought to be a day of great fertility for those trying to begin a family. Nature walks, garden work and foraging are popular activities A time to replenish stores, where possible Cleaning of communal areas, removal of debris, etc A meeting should be held at midday, when the sun is at its highest, to discuss plans for the coming season and to recount blessings received during the winter.


Beltane

 Summer Festival  • May 1A more romantic-leaning celebration, Beltane is forged to celebrate Aine. While it can set the scene for peers to meet and love matches to be made, it remains a time of embracing the warmer months of late spring and welcoming summer. Unions are thought to be blessed by Aine on this day. Those who step up to be wed on Beltane have a cord of daisies rested around their shoulders as part of the ceremony. Celebration activities include dancing during golden hour, eating fermented fruit (and imbibing on substances), games, exchanging of flowers. Daisies are a particular favorite for the summer solstice and can be worn as flower crowns or nestled into fur.


Lughnasadh

 Summer Faire  • August 1Historically a day to secure marriages, it has undergone some adjustments in the land of Mythris. It now signifies a day of merriment and indulging in the summer's waning influence - the final vestiges of "play" before the harvest season is upon them. Swimming and fishing are popular on this day, especially as a competition between two individuals or more. Feats of strength, agility, and other physical skills via spars are encouraged. All are expected to bring some sort of food offering to the gathering, including foraged foodstuffs, prey, vegetation, or fermented fruits. A meeting is held at final light for a group howl to serve as a show of gratitude for the faes' blessings through the fruitful season.


Mabon

 Autumn Solstice  • September 22After working hard during the harvest season, Mabon aims to be a reward and a conduit for bonding with the group and families as a whole. It is a more warm and fuzzy sort of gathering, but is an all-day event in and of itself. The day starts off with a group hunt before first light. Those invited to the hunt do not have to be part of Avon. The larger the prey, the more blessings there are thought to be in store for them. Stargazing, cloud watching, and general relaxation are popular on this day - particularly with one's mate or families. Sparring is welcome on this day. Those who do not attend the hunt are expected to prepare other amenities in wait for the hunting party to return. Giving a yellow rose to someone is seen as a testament of affection, and they are your "chosen" suitor. The festival ends with a group howl after the sun goes down, but the attendees sleep outside of dens and beneath the stars.

Practices

you are a child of the universe


 Union Rituals  are entirely up to the two committing to one another, but traditions from Talahm include handfasting - or pawfasting* in Mythris. The prospective pair will have one paw each bound by a cord of daisies or other flowers/plants. Offerings for fae  take the form of shiny baubles, herbs, fruit, bones, and woven grasses. They are typically left around the borders and in places where blessings are most needed. Placing a bundle of flowers outside one's den is thought to promote the fae's favor for its inhabitants. If a flower goes missing, it means that is the fae's favorite. Guests  are treated as welcome parties. They should be attended to the best of the kingdom's ability, so long as they cause no trouble. Religion  has no singular school of thought among Avon. They are tolerant of others' beliefs - or lack thereof - and do not judge others based upon them. Herbs, flowers, and plants  are not picked to the detriment of nature. They collect as much as one needs, but leave some for the host colony to replenish - working with nature rather than draining it.

kingdom laws

Prospective members must meet the Matriarch before approval. While members are welcome to pursue personal business outside of the pack, they are expected to let someone know where they are going. There is no time limit on excursions. Guests may move freely, even while receiving medical attention from Avon. Those who are in need of assistance cannot be turned away, especially any who are injured or in need of protection. Attacking known fae or otherwise harming them is strictly forbidden and is considered an affront to nature. Violence is a matter of last resort. It should not be the first tool in one's arsenal except in situations where harm may befall one of Avon's own. All members should do their best to contribute to the Kingdom's overall wellbeing, even if it entails gardenwork, fetching items for others, or generally helping in daily chores. Members can perform tasks outside of their specialization, provided they do no harm. The Matriarch's word carries the highest weight, but all who bear leadership roles (Matriarch-in-waiting, High Regent, Diviner, High Warden) may command those beneath them and their instruction begs respect. Children younger than 6 months of age are to be defended at all costs. They should remain within the more heavily protected areas of the Meadows unless shadowing one or more adults.

Punishment is not doled out lightly, but it is also something that does not happen often. As Avon strives to operate largely as an extended familial unit, there is emphasis on simply treating everyone with respect and grace.However, if it must be done, it often takes the following forms, in no particular order: Garden duty Verbal warning Clearing debris, cleaning denning areas Cache management (clearing out spoiled carcasses, etc) Patrol duty Chores for group members Reserved for only the most severe of infractions: dismissal from Avon. This is determined by the Matriarch and High Regent.

 Diviner Selection 

The Diviner is usually handed down to the eldest in the ranks, or one who is well-trained. As familiarity with the various rites is required, no one below three years of age is permitted to become the diviner.

 Acolyte Training 

Acolytes are assigned a mentor for the duration of their training and are eligible to become a cleric after a minimum of six months of training. Their tasks, until such a time, pertain to learning about the gods, fae, and rites. In order to become a cleric, they must pass the Rite of The Morrigan. The Rite of The Morrigan requires an acolyte to bond with a crow or raven and uncover three signs of The Morrigan, which they must decipher and reveal to the present Diviner.

Individuals who claim or are believed to be of fae descent (Non-wolves who are able to speak). Highly revered and respected by the kingdom. Unlimited number of members may have this role.

 High Warden Selection 

The role of High Warden is typically chosen through a series of spars. All who wish to assume the title must prove their mettle in order to take the mantle.Current High Wardens may avoid selecting their replacement by recommending their choice to the Matriarch and receiving backing from all current wardens.

 Trainees 

The green and unproven among the protectors are the trainees, and they will train with their mentor for at least six months before being eligible for induction as a warden, though it may often take longer due to the demands of the field. Trainees may patrol with other trainees (but not alone). A warden or the High Warden should be summoned in cases of conflict with other packs Attacking others unbidden may result in trainees being removed from the role. Prospective wardens must complete the Rite of Macha to proceed. The Rite of Macha requires the trainee to take down the lead stag of a deer herd and present the antlers to the Diviner. They may bring one other trainee with them, but only one may progress with a single hunt.


courier

This role is dedicated to communication and relations with outside packs. When not carrying messages or acting on missives from the Matriarch, they more or less fill in the gaps elsewhere within the pack. Multiple members may assume this role.

Those who undertake training as an apotheca must be at least one year of age and are then assigned a mentor during the Rite of Fates ceremony. Apprentices may not practice healing without their mentor, or a full-fledged apotheca, present
When the apprentice has trained for at least 6 months, they may take the Rite of Brigid at their mentor's discretion. They will be required to bring their mentor the herbs to treat a hypothetical ailment with only the symptoms explained, and then reveal their own diagnosis and how to apply the herbs they prescribe.


hearth-keepers

Role dedicated to pupsitting, caretaking, general cog in the wheel of Avon, but very valued. Warmth and empathy are valuable here. Unlimited number of members may occupy this role.

Sommelier

Members who choose the path of the sommelier are responsible for the curation and maintenance of fermented fruits and berries for the kingdom's uses. Rite of Fates


On their first birthday, all tender-roots are asked for their preferred field. They are then assigned a mentor during a short ceremony and their training begins. The Rite of Fates entails the Diviner applying a pawprint to the tender-root's chest with nature-made paints and fireflies (for fluorescing.) This gesture is symbolic of remembering what is within one's heart as they embark on their life as an adult.

wildflower run

Wildflowers proliferate in this wide expanse of territory near the lower-middle portion of Blushed Meadows, manifesting in vibrant colors all across the board. Prey are drawn to this area for its coverage and food offerings, making it valuable for hunting.Sometimes, yellow wild roses crop up amidst the wildflowers.Densite for [names].


boann's rill

Boann's Rill is named for the river guardian Boann and pivots from the cold channels of the north, flowing westward through Blushed Meadows.Though the water appears shallow, it is treacherously deep and its tides are quick, certain to drag unsuspecting and inexperienced swimmers under in a hurry. The river eventually narrows and calms before emptying into Dana's Sanctuary.


the shallows

A floodplain from Sterling River ambles across the western portion of Blushed Meadows, creating fresh water shallows for drinking and general purposes.Not steep enough to swim in, the shallows are a popular location for teaching young to navigate water or cool off in the heat of summer without risk of drowning.Densite for [names].


heart of avon

In the center of the Meadows is a cluster of trees whose ancient root matrix cling to rockwork and hold it in place. Believed the be the very heartbeat of the lands, this serves as the central meeting location for the Kingdom of Avon.The boulders rise above the ground level in a gradual incline, producing a stage of sorts for meetings. The structure is easy to ascend with step-like outcrops and sturdy roots to find purchase on.


brigid's embrace

Placed close to the Heart of Avon, Brigid's Embrace is reserved for the birthing of young and the storage of herbs. The den itself is larger than it appears, the soil worked away by ancient roots and easy to mold to a prospective parent's needs.It is believed those born in this hollow will be looked over and protected by the goddess of childbirth, Brigid.


communal densite

A stone's throw from the Heart of Avon and Brigid's Embrace, the communal densite is accessed through a yawning entrance surrounded by dense and protective roots. Within, a vast denning area has been carved out by previous tenants and the Kingdom itself, creating ample and comfortable space for the members of the pack. Additional, more private, 'rooms' may be created.Densite for Epona, Lugh.


cavern entrance

Discovered in the first spring of Avon's residence within Blushed Meadows, this cave leads into the tunnel system below and is the only known entrance. During spring and summer, wild yellow roses will grow around its maw.The entrance is well-hidden by the rocks and vegetation surrounding it, making it an easy-kept secret if one so chooses.


kingdom commons

Within the belly of the caverns, what once was is reduced to glimmers. Ruins and remains that suggest a human-adjacent kingdom once existed within the cave are evidenced in broken columns, reclaimed stonework, and other pieces of long-forgotten history.This is an optional denning area for those who wish to use it, but may be difficult for very young children to traverse.Note: It is more worn down than the inspiration picture suggests.Densite for Somnus.


dana's sanctuary

The most holy of the Kingdom's locales, Dana's Sanctuary is named for the mother of goddesses and is a place where no violence or discourse may exist.Dotted along the caverns walls, spears and clusters of natural quartz create a dazzling display of prisms when the light is right, but do take care - their edges are as dangerous as they are brilliant.From above, a wide chasm provides light and fresh water from Boann's Rill access to the cave. This, and the channel leading in from the cave system, are the only ways into the Sanctuary, but a fall from above would certainly be fatal.The Apostles do the majority of their work here, communing with the deities and fae alike, though some festivals and rites may also take place here beneath the blessing of the aforementioned bodies.Densite for [names].


fae stone

A peculiar stone sits near the northern border between the Blushed Meadows and Frostfang Vale. Strange and imperceptible markings are driven into its surface and it is often overcome with moss and other vegetation.It is believed to be of the fae's making and offerings may be left here, often in the form of harvested fruit, bones, and other baubles the fae may like. Leaving poor offerings are believed to inspire their ire.


the morrigan's eye

Just north of the Garden of Sidhe is The Morrigan's Eye. This hag stone is believed to permit the viewer to see beyond the veil and discern the presence of fae.This structure serves as the central location of Samhain celebrations for its closeness to the deceased.Densite for [names].

Just at the border of Blushed Meadows and Royal Wisterian Woodlands lies the Garden of Sidhe. Outfitted with a carpet of blue bells, it is believed the fae linger in this garden.A memorial space rests in its center, where those left behind in the world of the living may visit and reflect upon their lost loved ones. This area is kept tidy and clear of debris as an act of respect and service - dishonoring the garden is very much frowned upon.


veilkeep

While a memorial space exists within the Garden of Sidhe, a small and quiet area south of it is reserved for the actual burials.The bodies of the fallen are laid to rest here, and during the warmer months, fragrant wildflowers and butterflies frequent the area to keep the spirits company.Veilkeep is less traveled, but that is intentional; it is viewed as disrespectful to walk upon the grounds where the dead slumber.


aine's whisper

A great many weeping beech trees create an area of respite at the borders of Howling River, Royal Wisterian Woodlands, and Blushed Meadows. Their branches, heavy with blooms during the warm months, sway with the winds and rustle in a calming melody.There are two trees settled centrally that are of greater age. At one time, there was a third tree, but it has long fallen. Between itself and one of its standing brethren are a limb from each, which in some angles, take on the shape of a rough heart.Beltane celebrations take place here, as it is believed Aine's influence is alive and well within its berth.Densite for Fable, Aisling.


fateweaver field

The site of Mabon's festivities, Fateweaver Field is settled in the northern reaches of the territory, just before steep inclines lead into Frostfang Vale.With its flat terrain, a glorious view of the sky is permitted without obstruction, day or night. Bright pink wildflowers grow here, dappling the blushed grasses.Densite for [names].
